Ever since I implemented WordPress, this site has been using the same “theme”. The Twenty Eleven theme, to be precise. I might have changed some colours here and there, but it was always the same theme. It’s worked well for a long, long time, but recent updates to WordPress have caused it to start to misbehave. It started in December, I think. When I was trying to put a gallery of pictures of my advent beers in, the grid was showing up as one long column. I left it for a while, hoping that a bug fix would come along and make it work again, but when Tammy was putting in her baking pictures and then her birthday pictures and it wasn’t working, I thought it was time to do something about it.
I have now adopted a different theme. This one is pretty snazzy, with pictures and everything. 😁 I still have some tweaking to do (the sidebar has nothing in it yet) but it’s looking good.
This theme has the concept of “featured images”, which is how they are showing up on the main page. But the old theme didn’t, and so now all of our back catalog of posts just have a default picture in them. I don’t know if I’ll take the time to go back and update a few thousand posts…
