Our old digital camera was starting to give up the ghost. It was slow to take a picture and to recover when the flash was on. Sometimes the lens came loose so the LCD preview screen showed up black or it flickered on and off.

Today we got a new digital SLR camera on the pretense of it being a Mother’s Day gift. (We all know that it’s the family camera.) Future Shop had the Pentax K100 D on sale. Simon found it online last night and today we went down to have a look in person. We were sold on it from the web description, but we weren’t sure if my honking Sigma zoom lens would be compatible. I have a standard Pentax MZ-50 SLR camera and I bought the Sigma lens for that. Since Pentax hasn’t changed it’s K-mounts we figured there was a good chance it would fit…and it did. One of the best things and the clincher for getting it was the anti-shake mode. Now Simon can take pictures without blurring them. 😀 ❤️

Thank you for the lovely gift. I’m sure we’ll get lots of use out of it. Now Miranda can use our old one. she seems to be really into trying to take pictures.

On another note, my “real” Mother’s Day gift was this awesome book. (There wasn’t a link with a pic anywhere on the web.) I can’t wait to try out some of the projects. I’ll start off with the children’s section first before I go diving into making a a rock look like Doos. 😀 Thank you Simon and Miranda. ❤️

  1. I’ll say the anti-shake works like a hot darn. I was testing the camera in the living room, and I took two pictures with the mega-zoom lens: one zoomed right out, and one at full zoom. As you can see, even at full zoom (where my shaky hands practically make me seasick looking through the viewfinder) it’s tack-sharp. You can even read the ingredients on the Crispers!
