A Visit From Cindy and Sorcha

Today we had some visitors all the way from Miramichi, New Brunswick. Cindy is a woman that went to the same high school as me, and we worked together at the Thrifty’s bakery so many moons ago. We were both friends with a lot of the same people and so have gotten back in touch via Facebook. She and her daughter Sorcha were visiting her parents here in Sooke and so we arranged for them to come and have lunch today and visit this afternoon. From our online conversations, it sounded like Sorcha was very much like Miranda, but a couple years older: having piano lessons, taking karate, good at reading and writing, etc. Turned out she is mad about dinosaurs, too. I think they were exchanging notes on the latest research findings… 😉

It went really well. Tammy whipped up the fixins’ for burritos and chips and salad. The girls had a great time playing all afternoon and I don’t think they would have minded continuing past four, but Miranda and I had karate tonight and Cindy’s mom came and picked them up.

Tammy, Cindy and I had a great visit, and Cindy got to tell us about her husband Sean. The funny thing is it sounds like he and I have a lot in common. I bet that our families would be good friends together if we didn’t live 5,314 kilometres apart.
