Today is the 26th anniversary of Tammy and I tying the knot in Sidney back in 1997. I suppose it makes sense that we would be just returning from our trip to Victoria when this day rolled around, but it still seemed to sneak up on me. The day started with an eggs benedict breakfast that was a joint effort by Tammy and Miranda. It was delicious.

Since we’d sorta declared bankruptcy on cards this year, I’d prepared a little “fun game” (warning: it was neither little nor fun nor a game) in lieu of a card. Originally, I had a concept of taking each of the 26 years of our marriage and pulling out a significant event and tying it to a letter of the alphabet. But when creating the list, it just wasn’t working out, so I just put together a list of significant events, things or people in our marriage for each letter.

We played together, with people chipping in additional things and discussing them. It probably took about 45 minutes and was a good way to think about and celebrate the day. For those who are interested, here’s the list, minus the discussion. (You’re free to suggest new things in the comments)

Miranda, Tammy and I played some Minecraft before lunch and then afterwards Tammy and I headed out for an anniversary date. We had tickets to the 3 pm showing of True Romance at the Globe Cinema on 8th Ave. The Globe is a classic movie house, playing movies of all types and vintages. This movie was from 1993. It wasn’t exactly packed on a Sunday afternoon, and we enjoyed our movie, popcorn and drink.

Afterwards, we wandered over to the Core Mall and then on Stephen Avenue. We stopped for dinner at the Local Public Eatery and had a drink, fish tacos and a diablo burger.

From there, Tammy had a hankering for cheesecake and coffee, so we walked back over to Al Forno on 7th street. The C-Train Red Line was interrupted between Banff Trail Station and Sunnyside Station, so we did a fair bit of walking tonight: Sunnyside to the theatre, to dinner, to the bakery and back to Sunnyside.

Salted caramel cheesecake, raspberry cheesecake, cappuccino and mocha.

It was a good night and a wonderful summer evening. We wrapped it up with a glass of piquette that Colin and Carol gifted us when we were visiting. There was some questionable air quality (a 6), but it didn’t really seem oppressive. Tammy coughed a bit. Another year in the books.

💜💚💙❤️
