Flames Game and The MacBooks Arrived

A couple of weeks ago, I ran into Matthew, a guy who I worked on a project for the City of Calgary with back in 2012. I’ve caught up with him from time to time in the past and he’s doing well. When Tammy and I got to go see the Stampeders back in 2014, those tickets were courtesy of him. He’s running his own business here in town and there’s a project coming up at work where it’s likely that his company is likely going to be a part of it.

He invited me to come with him to see the Flames and the Devils at the Saddledome last night. It was a great time. We met up at the Local for some beers and some wings before heading over to the rink.

The view during the pre-game warmup

The game was good, and the Flames won 5-2. But the time spent catching up was better. Matthew’s a great guy who really has his head on straight. He’s a father of two now and all that that entails. The game was over around 9:30, but I wasn’t home until about 11. I took the train from the Saddledome to home, stopping by the office to pick up my laptop.

And when I got home, the MacBook Airs were here! I knew that already, but that was when I first laid eyes on the boxes. They were supposed to arrive at the Apple Store on November 5th, but they were delayed. The delay was inconvenient, because I wouldn’t be able to pick them up on the 6th or 7th. Tammy called the store, was told they were in and they weren’t sure why we hadn’t gotten a notification, but then when she got there, there were no computers and nobody knew who she’s spoken to.

Then when she got home, the notification arrived and back to the mall she went. Two days late and two trips to the mall later, the Macs were home.

The MacBooks were “from Nana”. Grandpa paid for them, but they were from Nana. One for Ian and one for Miranda. Miranda will be able to retire the Dell laptop she got last Christmas. Ian was so excited and frustrated by the waiting. And the worst part was when he got home he was allowed to unbox it but not set it up. So of course he made an unboxing video.
