Pandemic Anniversary

Today is 23 years since Tammy and I were married. There have been weird anniversaries, like in 2000 when Tammy flew home to Prince George, leaving me in Victoria to make my way to the INFORM Vancouver office the next day. But this one might take the cake.

The masked restaurant patrons

Tonight we ventured out and had dinner at Mitillini’s. It is the first time that we have eaten in a restaurant since the lockdown. The last time we ate out was at Dairy Queen on March 13th, and the last “real” restaurant meal was at Zaika on March 8th. So it’s been a looooong time. When I was picking up take out from Mitillini’s the last time, I noted that there were only a couple of tables of people in the whole restaurant, so I figured it would be the same tonight. It was. There was only one other table when we arrived and one more came in while we were eating. Let’s say that there was no problem with social distancing. We all wore our masks except when eating, which was a new sensation. Miranda got to wear her new mask, that she just finished yesterday. Some tartan material that Tammy had bought from North of Hadrian’s a couple of summers ago.

At home, Tammy had made a frozen yogurt dessert that was yummy (and tart, with the frozen raspberries!).

Then we went for a walk, since the weather is still nice these days. We have to enjoy the days while they last. Last night was the last Wednesday night ride for the cycling club, because the sun is setting by 8:30 now.
