Another 12 Hour Vacation

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but it seems that Tammy and I get the urge to go for a trip. Even if it is a stupid little one. (That’s all our budget and time allows, I guess) At 10 o’clock this morning, we left our house, and at 3 o’clock we arrived at the Abbotsford Tradex convention centre to witness the Vancouver Motorcycle Exhibition. 🙂

There wasn’t any ulterior motive to the trip, it was either that or IKEA. It was just an interesting place to go that we could all enjoy (more or less…). I’d never been to a big motorcycle show before, the biggest previous being the Victoria one where the three dealers in town barely filled the old Memorial Arena. This one was big. We stayed for about an hour, and in that time we only walked around 3/4 of it. We didn’t even get to the Honda or Yamaha pavillions.

What we did see was an exhibition of stunt motorcycle riders doing crazy things, lots of new motorcycles and tons and tons of people and things. We looked over the new Kawasakis pretty thoroughly; Tammy used to own a Ninja 250, and really liked the metallic blue that was on the new one:

Miranda got to sit on a few of them, but that was more just to keep her happy, because she wanted to climb up on them. One of the guys at the Ducati display got a charge out of Miranda sitting on a BMW, lying flat out on the gas tank trying to reach the handlebars. Tammy finally got to see a real Vespa, and this one was pretty big. Seemed to fit both her and Miranda pretty well.

Eventually we found one her size. There also was a little ATV in pink urban camoflauge. I wish I got a pic of it.

Then we turned around and headed right back home. The highlight of the trip might very well have been filling up the tank in Langley at 87.9 cents per litre. 😉

  1. I’ve been to that place before but, it was for the Harley Davidson show. Glad you had a good time. Steph, Z and I have to do that and take some more day trips to get out and about.
