Yesterday was our first lesson in ballroom dancing. I’ve been dying to try it out. Finally a studio opened here in Sooke and we signed up with Sasha and Jeff. The first 2 weeks will be devoted to the waltz and the following 2 weeks will be devoted to the cha cha. The remaining week will be a review. It’s a beginner class, but the session we’re in is a continuation of the previous 5 week class. We missed the jive and the foxtrot from the previous session.
It’s a really demanding (and stressful in its own way) activity. I’ve learned that I have 2 left feet and I tend to lead. You really get sweaty despite the slow movements. I think it’s flop sweat. 😀
And of course the "it’s-a-small-world-after-all" moment was finding that my grade one teacher and his wife are also students in the class. I was surprised that I recognized him: it’s been twenty-eight years! 😮
Sounds like fun. Hope you have a good time. [what is flop sweat??]
Here’s what flop sweat is: http://www.merriam-webster….
As far as I know, the original coining was in a Dilbert cartoon, where Dilbert was going out on a date which wasn’t going well. 🙂
