The wind’s a’howlin’. The temperature’s droppin’. Stay inside, boys and girls.

I stayed home today. The VP sent out a note saying the Calgary office was closing early. All things being equal, it’s not that much snow, but it is cold and the wind blowing it’s very cold. The snow is drifting.

Here’s a selfie of Tammy waiting for the kids to be dropped off by the school bus:

  1. Bravo Tammy for being out in this blizzard! We’ve been keeping an eye on the weather channel to see how you are doing. …Not a snow day for the kids?? When do they get out for Christmas holidays? They get a longer holiday in Alberta don’t they? Stay warm you guys!

  2. No, it’s not a snow day for the kids, but the school buses aren’t running today. Tammy was going to be volunteering at the school today anyways, so she is going to drive the kids.

I just got in from shovelling the driveway. That answered a question that I had always had: I knew that the wet snow on the coast packed well, but the dry, cold snow in the interior did not. How then, do Inuit build igloos? The answer appears to be blizzards. When the snow is blown into drifts, it packs into a much denser mass, which you could easily cut into blocks.

The upshot is I got a good workout!

The school break is the same as anywhere else. They are finished on the 20th and go back on the 6th, I think. I have set my vacation up the same way. Looking forward to it.
