Today was resumption of Columbia College’s Stampede Chili Cook-off to celebrate the start of Stampede. They haven’t had it for the past 2 years because of COVID, but it was back. Sadly, there was no chili. 😢 There were burgers, veggie burgers, potato salad, bags of chips, and beverages. I really had my heart set on some chili. I had heard about the previous years…

There were hay bales, tents, live dancing, and music. It turned out to be a beautiful day (which ended with near the tornado threat and thunder storms). A few of my students made it out; a couple actually came for a shortened class on-site (9.30-11.00). The rest of the day was eating, drinking, and mingling. My students really took to Miranda!

Miranda came with me because she wanted to cash in her free gelato coupon at the gelato shop near the college. It was quite sizeable for a freebie. She got coffee and it was a power house. I bought a jar of frozen hot chocolate.

I look forward to going again next year when, health and safety permitting, there will be more people and maybe chili.
