First Cycling Commute of the Year, Ian’s Presentation

The weather continues to be mild and the snow is almost completely melted in Calgary, meaning that there is very little risk of ice. The City is starting its sweeping program, so soon the blanket of pea gravel will be gone too. I had a Doctor’s appointment this morning at 8:30, so I rode up to Royal Oak for that and then rode into work from there.

Yours truly, marking the moment

I hope the riding season is more clement this year than last. The constant rainstorms really cut down on my commuting last year.

In other news, over Spring Break, Ian worked on a classroom sharing presentation on his hobbies. He and I spent some time working on that, and I got him to find photos and even some videos of him and his hobbies. Then he practiced his speaking with Tammy. He did his presentation yesterday, and his teacher, Mr. Christie, wrote us a note:

Ian confidently presented about his “5 hobbies”.  He kept the class’ attention and was able to expand further when he took questions from the students.  He was also attentive to feedback.  I had to ask him to raise the volume, and he immediately spoke up and made sure he stayed quite audible.  He even gave a courteous bow when he received his applause at the end.  🙂
