Amid the 1,001 other things going on these days, I have had a chance lately to play around with video game writing. Not sure exactly what it is, but every once in a while I get a notion to program something fun. Something that’s more about aesthetics than accuracy. Something where if you make something cool, people will say “That’s cool” not “Hey, I’m not paying you for that crap”. 🙂

The latest is…

Friendly Fish.

Fish
Fish

Well, you can’t judge it by the programmer art, but it’s a step in the right direction. I’ve talked to jonesy and Tammy, and they’ve made noises about pitching in on some better artwork.

The premise is simple: a little fish follows your cursor around. 🙂 Yeah, it’s not Quake 4, but it’s a big step forward. I’ve built it with network play in mind, so as soon as the single-player is solid, it’ll be Net Friendly Fish. By that time the next project will get lined up.
