Happy Birthday, Miranda!

Our little girl is 10 today! Into the double digits, now.

We slept in a little later than usual due to the late night before, but things got going with cards and presents at breakfast. Tammy was dancing around, while Miranda was just into taking it easy. 🙂

She got a couple books that teach drawing, and a book on baking little cakes and things, as well as some optical illusion cards and a calendar. She also got a couple “placeholder / IOU” gifts: Miranda has been asking for a nice dress for a while, and Tammy bought some material that Miranda liked, but didn’t get a chance to make the dress with everything being upside down with the basement construction and her working. So that will get done ASAP. The other was a tennis racket: it was Tammy’s old wooden one. That was a placeholder for a real racket: we have signed her up for tennis lessons, starting Saturday. They said that if you were going to buy the child a racket to wait until after the first lesson so that they could size it right for the child.

So that, along with gift money/cards from Mom and Dad, Colin and Carol and Stephanie, she certainly did well.

But no matter what the kids get, it’s always more fun to play with a cardboard box!

Our activity of the day was to go rollerskating at Lloyds Roller Rink. We met up with Sepideh and Ilia there, and rolled old-school.

Then we came back home for Miranda’s birthday dinner. She asked for hot dogs and nacho chips, to which Tammy added a salad. Her cake was lemon poppyseed with a meringue type icing and lemon filling.

All in all, it was a good day. Might be early to bed tonight after the late night last night. Miranda and Ian both stayed up for midnight, but Ian didn’t quite make it:

He crashed at quarter to twelve.

  1. Happy Birthday Miranda! It sounds like you had a pretty full day. My gosh! That skating rink reminds me of the one we used to go to in Lynden, Washington when we were about 15 or 16! The cake looks yummy, Tammy. The material for the dress is very pretty Miranda. The colour will be lovely on you.
Happy New Year to all. Again!

  2. Great to see the photos of your birthday, Miranda.
Looks like you had a fun day 🙂
