You know that bit in Star Wars where the Millennium Falcon hits hyperspace? That seems to have happened today with our basement reno. I got a call on Friday from the Site Coordinator (Ed) at PLANiT Builders. We arranged that he could come by today to look over the contract with us and go over any changes that needed to be made to the plans.
He came by this afternoon and much to our surprise, framing starts this Thursday.
Whaaaa?
So I had a job in front of me this afternoon: to rip down the insulation and vapour barrier on the frost wall downstairs. We had agreed in the contract that I would do that demolition (saved $750) but I’d been putting it off until we had a firm date. After all, it’s SNOWY outside. So that’s done. The freezer and fridge are emptied, and the fridge is defrosting right now. The insulation is rolled up in plastic in the garage, and I’ll haul it to the dump ASAP.
Do you know the theme song from the tv show Bonanza? That is what comes to mind as I visualize you manically tearing out the insulation, etc.! ‘s gonna get cold down there!
