Ian’s Got His Ticket to Drive, Too

Now we have two kids in the house with their learner’s permit. Ian took advantage of this week off school to study the Alberta Driver’s Guide. Today, Tammy dropped Miranda and I off to see Avatar and then took Ian to the AMA to take his test. He passed it and now he’s got his temporary permit.

Look out, everybody! Ian’s legal.

Ian’s choice of a reward was a box of Timbits and a cold brew coffee from Tim’s. We’ll see about putting both of them into driving lessons soon. Two birds with one stone, and all that. Miranda’s shown no ambition to learn how to drive in the three and a half years since she got hers.

As I mentioned, Miranda and I went to see Avatar: the Way of Water. She already went to see it with her friend Gwyneth in December, but her poor dad didn’t have anyone to see it with so she kept me company. We saw it in high-frame-rate 3D which was different from when she saw it in 2D. My short review is that I understand why it’s doing so well at the box office. There’s a lot packed into it, and the time that it takes to breathe is just gorgeous to look at. You can sure tell how much technology has advanced in the 13 years since the first movie.

We came home (walking to the train in -16 degree weather) with Tammy busily making chicken wings, coleslaw and Turkish bread. Nom nom nom.
