Insulation Part Done

After the relentless efficiency of our basement development, today was a bit of a change: they didn’t finish the insulation. Not sure exactly what the story was, but the guy didn’t show up until after lunch, then left after only an hour, then came back at four and worked until 5:30. So as a result, it’s half-done, but promising. Roxul in the ceiling and the wall against the furnace room, and Pink along the walls.

I guess he’s finishing tomorrow, and then the drywalling starts.

  1. Roxul: brand-name stone wool insulation that has excellent sound absorption qualities. http://www.roxul.com
Pricey, so unlikely that you would use it for all of your insulation needs. I used it as the filler for my sound absorption panels that I built.

  2. And just for the record, the insulation guy was at our house by 7:50 this morning and got to work. The drywall showed up around midday, and right now our basement has four workers in it, making a ton of noise putting it up. I went down there when I got home (just before 3 – with the snow and cold today I left early to work from home and miss rush hour) I would say the bulk of it was up.

I wouldn’t put it past them to have the drywall in place by end of day. They were starting the mudding, too.
