Well I had to post it as I’m sure all of you wondering exactly how much Christmas Lighting cost us this year. Well as I expected it was only an extra $150 above the regular monthly installments but, as we are on the equal monthly installment plan it didn’t effect us too much. I was actually pleasantly surprised.

And for some reason our graph shows less usage this year than last.

See the attached Graph…

I suppose a few things that helped was that we installed Programmable Thermostats to help with turning the power off our heaters at night. Also, thermostats that are variable so it’s not all on and all of.

One interesting thing to note is that the addition of Air/Conditioner’s in the summer our bill went up.

Even Christmas was cheaper. Just goes to show that even with 5000+ animated lights it really didn’t add that much to our bill. I guess because they were mini’s and they weren’t on all that much.

  1. Yeah, and you lost your power for a few days, too… 😉

I must admit I am surprised at the drop. Makes me wonder if I should get smarter thermostats for my house. Where did you get yours?

  2. I actually thought our bill would have been higher than last year because of the power outages with our house trying to get back up to temperature the Baseboards would have been on longer to get the house back up to heat.

I’ve purchased most of our thermostats from Canuck tire but, you can get them almost anywhere. Just watch the flyers for ones on sale… Just make sure you get the ones for Baseboards not furnaces!

Our December bill should be even less in 2007 as a lot of our lights I’m going to switch to LED so they’re won’t be the big load that there usually is…
