Let the Christmas Season Begin

As of lunch today, the kids and I are off for the Christmas break. I worked from home this morning, finishing a document for ENMAX and reviewing one for a hydro company back east, but that’s all taken care of now. The kids had a typical last day of school: watching movies and stuff. Ian had a “pyjama day”.

I can’t really enjoy it yet, though. I have my last appointment at the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary at 5:00. It’s the fourth of four sessions. The two this week are a quick warm up/calibration at low wattage, then sustaining a particular wattage for 30 minutes, while having my heart rate, breathing and blood lactate being measured. It’s been an interesting experience to say the least. It’s the smallest version of what pro cyclists go through on a regular basis.

Tammy works at least four days next week, but this year she has the time off between Christmas and New Year’s. Dad arrives in less than a week.
