Misc Sunday Morning Stuff

So far it’s been a pretty good weekend. Started it off early by going to the Garrick’s Head Pub on Friday afternoon with the guys from work. Yesterday, Tammy and I took the car in for its 48,000 km service ($ouch!) and I ended up playing Magic with Jason, Steve and Jim in the afternoon. In the evening we went over to Stephanie and Evan’s to play some Uno. We ended up playing two games, and they were raucous affairs.
Both yesterday and today, I worked on this programming problem which has been infuriating me, and today I finally solved it. I’ve started putting together a ‘bot for Robocode, and the first step is to get the radar working so you can see where you’re going. I read on the web about a good way to manage your radar sweeping, and it took me way too long to get my own version of it working. But today, it is, and all is good. Now I have to think about the movement of the tank in the game area based on the information the radar is giving me.
Speaking of games, Dad is really motoring along with the go board he is making for me. Go is not a really popular game in Canada, so it makes more sense to make your own if you’re at all good in a workshop. In this case, my Dad is handy, so I’ve asked him to help me out. It looks like it will be really nice when it’s done.
Looking out my office window at the Gorge Waterway and Bamfield Park, I wonder why I’m so anxious to move into a house. The apartment Tammy and I are renting is right on the water, with rowers, seals and birds, and today blue skies and autumn colours. Let’s face it. The house we end up buying won’t be in anywhere near as nice a spot as this. We don’t have any troubles with the neighbours, we have underground parking. Seems odd to me.
It would be nice to be able to turn the volume up on the home theatre, though.
