Off to Victoria

The last of the whirlwind of events from this week is that I am flying to Victoria tonight. The short version is Dad was released from the hospital earlier this week, and he is moving into his new place at the Alexander Mackie Lodge this weekend. I am going to be there to help with the move, that Stephanie is organizing.

Considering where we were less than two months ago, that we are doing this today is amazing. Dad’s made a considerable recovery and continues to improve.

I will update this post over the course of the weekend!

Updated

Ugh. What a long weekend. 😅 Stephanie and I hit the ground running early on Saturday morning, packing stuff and getting things ready for the movers to arrive on Sunday morning at 9. It was an interesting job, because since Dad still owns the condo, we were only identifying the things that needed to be moved to the new place and the other stuff could remain at the condo in the meantime. It was a blizzard of boxes, DVD’s kitchen stuff, going through drawers and boxes. Tristan had his hands full with moving his mother on Saturday as well!

We got a lot done, and by lunchtime on Sunday, Dad was relocated to his new home while we worked around him to get things into a “livable” state. He had the TV and DVD player working, and the bathroom was stocked and the bedroom was ready to go. But nothing’s finished. Nothing on the walls yet. It will take more time to make it feel like home, but I’m back in Calgary now and Stephanie has to work this week (not to mention healing up from all the work)

The moving crew

But on the bright side, I got to spend time with everyone and Stephanie’s cats. I stayed in Zachary’s room, since he’s living at his dad’s place at the moment (Zachary is going to Camosun College). A short visit, but good. We watched Pee Wee Herman’s Big Adventure and the Truck Parade on the TV on Saturday night since no one felt like going back out after pizza supper and working all day.
