Tammy went diving into the ii News today, looking for when Miranda got her third-degree brown belt, and realized we never posted anything. We don’t have a picture, either. So I’m writing this on the 29th of September, but post-dating it to the 21st of August, because by deductive reasoning, that’s when we think she got it. 🙂
It was a decent story, too. It was my first night taking Miranda to karate in two weeks due to my travel, and I was surprised that it was belt grading. She had three tips on her second degree brown belt already, so she was due to test. She did, and I thought she did well at demonstrating bassai dai and enpi. At the end of the class, though, the sempai handed out the tips and then made no mention of Miranda. He didn’t give her a belt, nor did he tell her why she didn’t get one.
Miranda came over to me and was confused about that, so I told her to go and ask the Sempai for an explanation, either way. It turned out that he had forgotten, so he ran and got her belt and presented it to her. So the Sempai was forgetful, and so was I. Sorry about that, Miranda.
Due to the move, that’s likely to be her last belt, I’m sad to say. 😢
