Yet another little lull in our life, hence the lack of postings for a few days. The weather has turned the corner for certain this time. The weekends are filling up with tending to the yard and my cycling on Sunday mornings. Tammy’s last full week of work at GEOS was this past week. Next week, she’s on call for Monday, but that’s it. She has been looking forward to this: a chance to get back to keeping our house shipshape. 🙂 My work week had a fair number of meetings and organizing stuff, but lacked meat because the project I will be working on for most of the summer really kicks into gear on Monday.

Tammy even got to see a parade yesterday. There was a parade celebrating Olympic athletes that began only a block from her school, so she took her class out to see.

The kids are doing well. Miranda got to meet Mayor Nenshi last week, when she and her class went to the Calgary Municipal Building for the City of Calgary Mayor’s Environment Expo. Ian got in a bit of trouble this week, when a note came home from his teacher that he’d been doing more socializing than paying attention. Sounds familiar, right Mom?

Today was busy, with mowing and trimming and feeding the lawn, while Tammy and Miranda did a round of cleaning inside. Tammy also dug out the turkey from the freezer. She had bought it at Easter and didn’t cook it. It turned out well for supper. After lunch, Miranda and Ian brought out their remote control cars that they bought with their Christmas money. Miranda said something to the effect of “Daddy can play with his purple car, and I can play with my silver one and Ian with his red one,” referring to my R/C car that I have had since before Miranda was born. So I went to the garage, and found all the bits and bobs (car, radio, battery packs, charger) and to my surprise, it all still worked! Even the 8 Kirkland AA’s that were in the radio. Who knows how long they’ve been in there.

Tomorrow is a big bike ride for me: the MEC Spring Road Ride. It’s from Turner Valley to Bragg Creek and back, for a total of 100 km. Compared with my big ride last fall, it’s 10 km further, but it isn’t as competitive. In fact, there are six people from my bike club who are participating this time: Mike, Marlo, Mary, Susan and Linda. I expect that I will be riding with them tomorrow, so that should regulate my usual urge to push forward faster.

Also tomorrow, Miranda and Ian will be having another piano recital. Look for more news tomorrow!
