Stars for Miranda

Tonight I took Miranda outside to look at the stars for the first time. I showed her the Moon before, but tonight was dark and clear. She was very excited, and was pointing and jabbering away. We only stayed out for a minute: I was still in my sock feet. But once we came inside she immediately ran to the window to look out for a while longer.

  1. Moon, Moon, that’s the Shiny white thing trying to emit itself through the fog right? Zachary looks up and says "See the Moon??" He even notices it while we’re driving in the car. I take him out when I BBQ sometimes and he always looks for the moon when we’re out there….

  2. That’s the funny thing: it’s been perfectly clear in Sooke since Friday, but socked in in Victoria. I’m spending my days in the grey mist, and coming home to clear, dark skies. Walking home last night from the bus stop, I was struck by how brights the stars were, and I thought it would be a good chance for Miranda to see them. There was no Moon at the time, but she did spot Mars, which was the brightest thing visible. Apparently we’ve been wrong all this time, and Mars is actually called Baboob. 😀
