Thanksgiving Lunch 2019

As usual, we celebrated Thanksgiving today. Simon prepared the stuffing last night and the overnight mingling was really effective. I also made 2 pumpkin pies in a butter crust yesterday. Simon and 2 others from the BCC went for a ride in the morning while I got the rest of lunch together. I even managed to squeeze in a 16km virtual ride before lunch.
We ate at around 2, so not too late. The turkey was tender and juicy (and it was a cheap-o one from Walmart!). With it we had baby carrots, green beans, Brussel sprouts, Simon’s stuffing, yams, gravy, homemade buns, and cranberry sauce with homemade sparkling apple juice. Dessert, of course, was a slice of the pumpkin pie with whipped cream.
We have so many leftovers now. The turkey wasn’t particularly large, 6kg, but I think we’re eating way less than we used to.

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving to all!  🦃

  1. Yes, I photobombed the picture. I was wearing the apron during the carving of the turkey. Tammy made a snarky comment that people would think I’d played a bigger part in the meal prep than I really did, so I thought I’d better set the record straight: I barely contributed. 😋

It was a quiet day. A lot of people I know were having big get-togethers with family today. But it was a good day, and I’m thankful for that. 💚
