The Sale…Thus Far

As you all know yesterday we had our first showing in weeks. The people looked around for about a 1/2 hour. It turns out they’re moving here from Ontario. They liked our house, but they’re having trouble with the layout of houses here. They aren’t keen on the main floor being the top floor. They’re used to main floor at entry level, bedrooms upstairs, and a basement. Unless they find a rancher, most of our houses are that way. (But the newer ones are moving towards the main floor at entry level-just smaller sq. footage.) So that’s that. We didn’t make their short list. However, our price is now reduced to $389 900 (boo!) 🙁 and maybe they’ll reconsider (not to be cynical or anything).
It turns out there are 41 active properties in Sooke between $375 000 and $400 000. Nothing is moving. We have an open house on the 25th from 2-4 (tell your friends!) and we meet again with Tammi in another 3 weeks to discuss options.
It’s so different from last year. Places like West Hills in Langford are part of the cause. It used to be that to find bigger houses and lower prices you had to move out of town. Now that Langford is booming their new house prices are comparable to ones out here and people can’t see the need of driving all the way out here (especially with the gas prices).
