Too Much Ice! Abort! Abort!

When I heard that it was already 8 degrees out this morning and would get warm today, I immediately thought I had a chance to ride my bike to work. I looked out our window, and the street was ice-free.

So I got my stuff together, and pumped up my tires and headed off. It didn’t take long to figure out it might not be the right thing to do. Our part of Tuscarora Heights is a south-facing slope, and once I got off that and on to the flat leading to the main road, I was dismayed to see most of the road iced up. The sidewalk was clear, so I followed that. The main road was clear and fine, but normally I cut through the back roads to get to the pedestrian bridge into Scenic Acres. They were all iced up. So I rode down the hill, and turned onto the last option road, but it was icy too.

So I said to heck with this. If this was going to be the way it was, I would be smarter to just take the bus, which I did. Who knows, if it is as warm as they say it will be today, tomorrow might be an option.

  1. All I can think of is something sarcastic about using the common sense portion of your brain! And I hear my Mother in my head saying…"honestly, sometimes you don’t use the brains you were born with!"…to me!! Congratulations! You used yours and by the memories, I sometimes didn’t use mine!! Do remember that bridge you wiped out on last spring.
