Weird Christmas

2019 will probably go down as one of our most upside-down Christmases ever, but it’s been fun!

It all started when Jeff and Sasha let us know that they were coming to Calgary at Christmastime. They would be arriving on the 23rd and visiting with his aunt and before you know it, our Christmas dinner got moved from the 25th to the 24th. So all of the big dinner preparation was a day earlier than normal. We had a great time, going sledding and then having turkey dinner.

It was nice to see them again. They were on their way a little after 9 and then the kids got ready for bed and we had our traditional reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas before Santa came.

We knew that we would be going skiing on Christmas Day, but we didn’t know how the morning would shape up. As it turned out, getting up at 7:15 meant we were finished cards, stockings, breakfast and presents before 9:00, when we talked to Colin and Carol, and got to see “Kitty Kitty”, the communal cat who lives in their complex.

Then we were off. Compared to the weather when we tried going to Nakiska on Saturday, today was beautiful. About -6 degrees, sunny, no wind. Lovely snow. Enough to put smiles on anyone’s face.

As usual, Ian and I stuck together, and so did Tammy and Miranda. On our third run, I tried taking some video of Ian skiing with my iPhone. It didn’t turn out too badly!

Merry Christmas to all, no matter how unusual your day is.

  1. Looks like everyone had a good day on the 24th and the 25th turned out really nice. Ian seems to be asking very well.
