Halloween 2019

Another quiet evening here. This was the first year that neither Ian nor Miranda went trick-or-treating. Last year, Miranda took Ian around but didn’t go to the doors. This year, they stayed home with me and helped answer the door while Tammy was at work.

Speaking of Tammy, I hope her class wasn’t too scared…

Tammy the punk rocker

I might not have gone “all out” like Stephanie and Tristan, but I think if anything was going to draw kids in from down the street, this would work:

It’s official: I have bats in my belfry.

The kids and I sat at the dining room table and watched The Addams Family while we waited for trick-or-treaters. We were worried about Murphy: he shows a propensity for darting outside sometimes. But this evening he just stretched out on the couch and watched it all happen.

Next stop… NaNoWriMo!

  1. 140ish kids at our door (lost count a couple times with some big groups). Scared a whole bunch of kids and parents with our pop up furnace guy near the door (evil laugh ensuing). Actually made one kid pee their pants. Tristan saw him scurrying away from the door holding his crotch. It’s quite amazing how little we get considering the rest of the main hub of roads get 400-600 kids. I guess no one wants to go down the back side of the hill. Oh well, leftover candy for us! Twinkie and Willow rotated turns being in the bathroom window by the door to watch the Hallowe’eners come up. Actually a few kids spied them in the window and were all excited about seeing a real cat at Hallowe’en. They didn’t seem phased by the plethora of fireworks going off or kids ding donging the doorbell. Brianna went out in the neighbourhood with a couple of her friends dressed as Hogwarts Wizards. Zach stayed at home.
