Nanowrimo 2022 Comes to a Close

It’s November 30th, and that means that Tammy and I have been pounding away at our keyboards for 30 days, creating another great Canadian novel. We’ve both crossed the imaginary 50,000 word line, and I made it just over 60,000 words this year.

Tammy doesn’t tell me much about what she’s writing, but apparently she had a radical change in direction in the first week when her first idea wasn’t going anywhere. She’s been pretty chipper about her writing since, so I guess it went well.

I’ve gotten back to my epic story and compared to the flailing that I did in 2020, this year was just bubbling with ideas. It was so bad in 2020 that I went with something completely different in 2021, not even breaking out my typewriters. This year, most of the writing was done on my beloved 1962 Underwood, with a fair bit done on my Selectric II. Some nights I felt like sitting next to Tammy to write, so I used my iPad and my MacBook. I even did one day’s work on my Titanium PowerBook.

Neither of us finished our novels. I would estimate that mine is only half done. Who knows, maybe I’ll participate in Camp Nanowrimo in April to finish it.
