A Mid-Fall Ride

This morning, I was taking my computer into the bonus room to set it up to do a virtual ride, when I stopped. I realized that it was Sunday morning, and while the official Bow Cyclist rides are over for the season, there have been ad hoc rides the last two weeks when people have shown up at the shop.

The morning was looking good: dry, with clouds that looked like they would burn off, and cool but not cold. I changed my mind and started putting on my cold weather riding gear and headed out to the shop.

Kurt didn’t disappoint: he popped out the door, saw me waiting, and said “Yessss!” So he and I headed out on a loop around the Glenmore Reservoir. We stopped to take a pic or two, because the morning did turn out beautiful.

66 km in total: 16 getting to the shop and back home, and 50 on the loop. A good way to end the riding season, if the weather doesn’t hold.

  1. It was a beautiful day. I had four layers on, and that was about right until I had to climb back up the hill to Tuscany. Then I was too hot. It was typical “shoulder-season” riding in Calgary: cool, but dry. If I hadn’t had my crash this spring, the riding season would have been eight months this year.
