…and I only fell over twice.  😀
Yesterday Simon and Miranda rode to her friend’s house to see how far away it was. Â On the way back Miranda took the pedestrian path back home while Simon carried on up 12 Mile Coulee Road for more of a workout.
Today he suggested we go and take a ride out that way since it was such a good day.  I was a little hesitant because of the temperature, the road conditions, riding on the road on my new seat, and using my clip pedals.  So I bundled up in some thermal pants and shirt, bike shorts, jersey and cycling jacket and we were off.  The temperature was pretty good.  My ears were a little cold, but nothing too unbearable.  My new seat was virtually painless – not sure why it isn’t when on the trainer.  The roads weren’t too bad.  The clips…well, like I said…I only fell over twice.  😀  The first time I wasn’t paying attention and realized that I hadn’t unclipped until I had already stopped.  I tumbled over onto someone’s driveway.  There were no injuries or rips.  It wasn’t so bad. From there on I kept one shoe unclipped sine we were riding in traffic and I was already panicked enough. The second time was after we had pulled into our driveway.  I was unclipped, slowing down, and leaning over to put my foot down when I heard the *click*. Oh no!  I clipped myself back in and there was no time to unclip. So I tumbled over again.  I’m sure there must have been a couple of people busting a gut in their front windows both falls.
The ride out of town was fine. Â It was one of the routes the Bow Cycle Club takes. Â I said to Simon that I could easily do this ride as long as I skip the to and fro Bow Cycle part. Â I think the ride up Tuscany Hill would do me in before I even get a chance to do the rest of the ride. Â Maybe one of the Sunday rides I’ll meet up with them and try it out.
