Check out the new Aquarium in Sidney

Today we decided to do a family outing and settled on the new Ocean Aquarium in Sidney. It was a gorgeous day to do it! We saw jellyfish, rock fish, anemones, whale bones and an octopus all squished into a small crevasse.

With the huge tanks, Brianna was even mesmerized by the swirling fish.

After we went outside and enjoyed the sun and the fresh sea air and walked along the docks and ogled at the boats.

  1. We went there a few weeks ago, too. It was an interesting experience. I liked the jellyfish and the octopus. It reminded me of the aquariums that led into the main attractions at the old Sealand in Oak Bay, but without the main attractions, just a gift shop.

I know it’s not politically correct to keep large marine mammals and pinnipeds (look that up in your Funk & Wagnall’s) in captivity and teaching them tricks, but I really resent the closure of Sealand. Especially since back in 2002 I went to SeaWorld in San Diego (http://ii.homeip.net/index….) and enjoyed every minute of it. You can’t tell me it’s smarter to shut down Sealand and redirect all the tourists to whale watching tours that annoy the whales in the wild.
