Father’s Day 2020

With so many days blending into the other during the pandemic, it’s nice to have an “event” day, even if it’s not all that important in the big picture. I think we made the most of the day.

It started a little early, with Murphy waking Ian up to play and then coming and bugging us too. That led to a nice breakfast together with homemade cards and a few prezzies: a bag of coffee beans, a bottle of scotch and a hot sauce making kit. The cards were amazing this year. Everybody did great: Miranda with her emperor penguin dad (apparently I’m not as amazing as one, but cool nonetheless), Ian’s bucket of beers and ice and Tammy’s cycling jersey.

It’s a Sunday, and the club rides are on so Ian and I rode down to the shop with Miranda and saw her off before heading out on our own trip on the paths to downtown. We took our time and took some beautiful photos.

Meanwhile, Miranda was out with Susan on her own 56km ride…

And Dad was down at Western Speedway watching the shiny things go fast…

Ian got to stand at the base of the Bow and look up

Tammy came and picked us up in Bowness after her own ride to Sobeys and back. Lunch was Monte Cristo sandwiches with homemade thick-cut potato chips and a dill-cayenne dip. Delicious! And a lemon-blueberry cake for dessert.

We just did some family yoga. It was a good day.

All the best to all the dads out there, and especially to my Dad and Tammy’s Dad.
