I guess they’re going to keep me around: today I got my new work computer, a 14″ MacBook Pro in space grey. It’s got the M2 Pro system on a chip, which makes it faster. I’d say it’s the fastest computer we have, but for raw graphics, Ian’s Acer still holds that crown.

Here it is, next to my MacBook Air M1

In another parallel universe, it would be replacing my 2017 MacBook Pro, but in this one I bought an M1 MacBook Air M1 a while back and have been mostly using that for work. This really is just officially retiring the old Intel-based computer. No more switching back and forth from time to time. I don’t know what we’re going to use the MacBook Air for. It was going to be Ian’s, but now he’s happy with his PC, and Miranda’s happy with her iPad Pro. We’ll see, I guess.

I’m slowly transferring stuff and setting stuff up. It will take a bit, but things will be simpler in the end. I hope that this computer holds up better than the Intel MacBook Pro. It’s battery swelled, the butterfly keyboard malfunctioned, the USB ports died and right now only one speaker is working.
