Kite Flying, New BBQ

Yesterday afternoon, some serious recreating was being done. 🙂 Of course, some work went along with it, but that’s what they tell you is good for you. After lunch, Miranda wanted to play some “garage hockey” (floor hockey in the garage), so that necessitated pulling the cars out and sweeping the garage. When we got started, Tammy took advantage of the cars being outside to wash them. Then when the cars were dry and rolled back into the garage, vacuuming followed. I was keeping an eye on the weather. Miranda had wanted to fly our kite for a while, but the wind had either been too much or too little. Yesterday it was just right, so after the cars were clean, we got in the car and headed over to John Muir Elementary to fly it. It was a lot of fun. Miranda got the most “time on the string”:

Unfortunately, the kite flying ended with one of the supports breaking. I’ll see if I can fix it.

Today’s task was fixing the old barbecue or getting a new one. It was on the list of things I wasn’t seeing to while work was crazy. Two summers ago, I fixed up our old BBQ, which was superior to the Coleman which followed it, but was in need of TLC and some parts. That worked out pretty well, until late last year when the hose from the regulator to the burner burned through (scaring Tammy), thus terminating all grilling activities. I took a look at the damage today, and decided getting a new one was more practical and safer than re-fixing up the old one. So off to Canadian Tire we went, and we snagged the last Cuisinart BBQ that was on sale, $100 off.

It’s pretty nice. Much superior to our earlier ones. We got a cover for this one too, so with any luck it will last a lot longer.

  1. The bbq looks smashing! And Miranda looks like she’s having a good time. We stopped by the lagoon on the way home from Michael’s today and the tide was really low. There were about 15 heron doing some fishing with the tide running out. We love it down there.
