Still haven’t sold our house

Here’s the quick update for those who have been following along. Thursday night was pretty sleepless as we were bartering with some prospective buyers who came in with a lowball offer. By Friday noon, we walked away, because it was clear the others weren’t being serious about moving up from their original offer. Then after we walked away, they came back with another offer, still under ours, but finally interesting. We made another counter at McDonald’s last night (an evening abruptly ended by Stephanie becoming ill), then heard nothing last night after that.

Then on the way to the dojo this morning, Tammi called us up and said that they wanted to see the house again at 4 today. I’m beginning to think that they are actually just coming over to watch movies at our house. 🙂 We said that was okay, since the house was spic and span for a showing at 12:30 and the cats were out. Then at noon, when we were at the dojo, we heard that they had walked away (really? our counter was only $2000 above theirs!) but not permanently. They needed to consult with their mortgage person before proceeding.

Fine. Whatever.

Then we got a call from Tammi this evening. They have come back and would like to see the house at 4 tomorrow. Okay, we were going to be over at Jeff and Sasha’s anyways. But the interesting thing is that the people from the showing today thought ours was the best house they looked at. Tammi told them as much as she could about the situation, so they are aware. If the first people do put an offer on the table, Tammi will call the new people and let them know. Wouldn’t it be nice if the second people bought, but because the first people were the catalyst? We can hope.

Anyhow, that’s where things are at. I don’t have to say it, but I doubt it would be a surprise if I said it’s been a stressful time.

  1. Yeah, sure and I’d like a trip to Germany. We’ll be lucky if either makes an offer. Couple 1 seems to be trying to chisel us down to the bare nubbin. Couple 2 said they really liked our house, but does that translate into them being a potential buyer? Only time will tell…again. *sigh*

  2. Okay, now it’s looking like something is going to happen. Got word tonight that an offer is back on the table. It’s not perfect, but we’re considering it. Plus, we have another showing tomorrow, which will make up to four other interested parties in our house. Will one or more of them throw their hats into the ring?

All this stress can’t be good for you. 🙂
