Hello from Edmonton

It’s early in the evening of my first day in Edmonton. It was a long one, thanks to having to get up at four in the morning in order to get out the door to catch the C-Train downtown to catch the Red Arrow bus to Edmonton. There was a 10:00 meeting, and it takes three and a half hours to get there.

The two meetings at ATCO went pretty well, followed by catching up on emails and other scheduling. Tomorrow and Thursday I will be at Strathcona County reviewing their mobile GIS strategy. Friday I will be at Enbridge before catching the bus back to Calgary.

The weather is as nice as one could hope for in mid-February. Let’s hope it holds until I get home.

It’s now Friday morning. I’m up, and about to head down to the hotel fitness room. I only have one meeting today, and it doesn’t start until 9:30. So I have some time this morning to work out, have breakfast and check out. The meetings with Strathcona County went well. There was plenty of time to discuss what we needed to over the two days. I will have to start writing the documentation for them on Monday.

I have to admit that this has been a stressful week. But there have been a couple of bright points:

  • I managed to get to the fitness room of the hotel three out of the four days and,
  • I spent some of my time in the hotel writing and editing my 2015 novel.

That’s an accomplishment, compared to most other business trips.
