And the results are in… poo

I was very surprised by the results: a near-complete tear of my left ACL. 😢 For those who are keeping score, that’s the same thing I did to my right knee back in ’92 and repaired in ’98.

I am surprised, because the behaviour of my left knee has been very different from the right. I was certain that it was a PCL tear, but the MRI results were conclusive.

Dr. Nelson (the repair specialist) will be in contact soon so that I can talk about possible remedies. At the moment, I don’t know what to think. Having gone through the reconstruction once, I don’t know if I could do it again. And yet, this injury rules out some activities which I don’t particularly want to give up. Additionally, I will want to do things with Miranda as she grows up, and I don’t want this to stop that.

Going to have to chew on this for a bit.

  1. That’s too bad. If surgery is the only real option, then I guess it’ll have to be. At least you have the ability to work from home and you can take a week of vacation. I know it’s not much consolation. (L)

  2. By the time you are scheduled for surgery you will have some sick days built up…providing ESG gives you sick days….

  3. Ten per year, apparently.

You probably remember the last time I had a knee fixed: I was working for you then. I took two weeks off, and was on crutches for a couple of months.
