Happy Halloween 2013 (Ya-hoo from Calgary)

It’s Halloween, and Tammy and the kids are back from trick-or-treating. I’ve been answering the door. It’s been busy, but not the avalanche of kids I was expecting. 55 kids so far, and they are still coming in packs.

Ding dong.

Make that 56.

Here are the kids (Miranda the vampiress and Ian the spider)

Ian and Miranda ready to go
Ian and Miranda ready to go

I vant to suck your blood! Bla bla bla!
I vant to suck your blood! Bla bla bla!

Rahr!
Rahr!

And here’s the effect:

I want ALL THE CANDY!!!
I want ALL THE CANDY!!!

  1. The costumes are super, kids. That is quite the haul for an evening’s work! We had 44 kids this year. Which is quite a bit down from the 79 from last year. I don’t know why last year was so high because the 44 mark is more our usual number. So of course we planned for 80-100 this year and we ended up giving double amounts of the goodies for the last hour! Never mind, we can send leftovers to Stephanie to take to work. I hope everyone had a good time.

  2. I started out giving each kid 2-3 treats. Early on, I thought we might run out: there were large groups showing up every few seconds between 6:30 and 6:40. Then it cooled off to a reasonable rate. After 7:00, I realized we here going to get stuck with all the candy, so I started putting handfuls in each bag.

Note to self: don’t let Tammy buy the candy. She buys stuff that isn’t any good for Nanowrimo incentives, except for the Tootsie Rolls. 🙂

  3. We had 53. Apparently down the road people were getting 200+. I walked down and noticed that all of the houses before me were all dark so barely anyone would come down our end thinking there weren’t any houses. Only the ones that knew I was there came. Al is ok with that…."more stuff for him" as he puts it 😀

  4. Great costumes!
We saw hundreds of children in Bucerias it was wonderful to see the little ones and everyone was having so much fun!
