Max, a bad influence?!

As you may know our children love to watch Max&Ruby. Miranda went through a stage of watching it and now it has become Ian’s favourite. We really like the show because it sends a good message and we have our own real-life MAx and Ruby here. Unfortunately, it’s a little too much life imitating art. Max is a 3-year old and he typically speaks in one word sentences, ie. hungry!, paint! or whatever. Ian does the same thing and it’s annoying us. We know he can make longer sentences. He was a late bloomer in speaking and it has always been a “battle” to get him to use words instead of noises. So now I’ve put my foot down and told him no more M&R until he starts using full sentences on a regular basis. Instead I’m allowing him to watch WordWorld. It’s great for vocabulary and sentence use. Let’s hope it works because I enjoy watching M&R.

  1. We loved Max and Ruby too…a lot! We still have all the dvd’s and sometimes, for comfort, we’ll watch a few. When our cat passed a few years back…almost 6 years ago, and I was crying, Sorcha took me by the hand and said that I should come to the couch and we should sit and watch Max and Ruby together because that would make me feel better. 🙂 She was barely 4…

  2. That’s a nice story, Cindy. Max and Ruby has a certain comforting vibe to it. But at the moment, Ian needs to break that one-word query/protest pattern which is cute in the cartoon and frustrating in real life. 🙂
