New Work Phone

It’s been three years since I got my iPhone 5 for work, and so that means I was due for a replacement. It’s an iPhone 6S. I did my backup and restore from the old iPhone to the new this morning, and so everything is now transitioned over. My first impressions:

  • It is bigger in the hand, and I am having to shuffle my grip around when doing things like hitting the home button or the power button. That might not be such a bad thing at the moment: it’s very mild exercise for my hurt hand,
  • I’m using the “zoomed” mode on the display. I’m liking the tradeoff of bigger text on the bigger screen, instead of more small text.
  • It came with an OtterBox case. Did the IT department remember what I did? 🙂 This case slides into my pocket pretty well.
  • TouchID (fingerprint unlocking) is amazing and addictive. I can’t believe I still have to punch in my unlock code on my iPad like an animal.

When I get home, I will see if it fits in my under-seat pouch on my bike. The old iPhone 5 was a tight fit. If it doesn’t, I have to come up with some alternate means to carry the phone that will be safe but still work with the bike sensors.
