No, we didn’t kill the kids and eat them. On their week off, they’ve been productive in the kitchen. First, it was Ian: he’s been taking cooking in middle school this term, and he made bruschetta in class and wanted to make it for us. We got the necessary ingredients (including him walking down to Sobey’s to buy the baguette) and he made this for lunch on Thursday.

They were delicious! No other way to describe them.

Then Miranda got the idea to use the bamboo steamer that Ian got Tammy for Christmas to make the “bean buns” that were in one of the scenes in Spirited Away. I’m not sure what recipe she used, but here is a link I found.

Her first test batch was fantastic Thursday night, and that led to another batch of bean buns, some pork-filled buns and even some mochi on Friday.

Pretty amazing. And delicious.
