It’s seemed like one thing after another this week. Not that I begrudge a single penny, it does seem like suddenly someone pulled the plug out of the money tub and it started draining. 🛁

There have been some sizeable purchases related to our upcoming 25th anniversary (more on that later!) as well as:

  • Taking the Tiguan to VW for a major service (and new spark plugs)
  • The down payment (50%) on the solar panels for the roof
  • Three new iPhones 13 to replace the previous set of iPhones 11

It’s been almost three years

The latest and mostly unexpected one was the garage door. It’s been getting more noisy lately, and I was seriously considering calling someone to come and “tune it up”, but I put it off because we’re days away from being unavailable. Then Tammy left to go pick up Miranda from work about quarter to four. I waved from the garage, and then pushed the button to make the door go down. Three inches from the floor, there was a TWANG and then a CRASH.

The spring had broken. I could just barely lift the door. I was on the phone immediately and got a guy to come and fix it by 5:15. $720 later, it’s now super-smooth and quiet.

New rod and spring
