A Pretty Good Day

Sometimes a day just comes together. Winter weekend days around here tend not to be particularly exciting, especially since we stopped going skiing. But yesterday was a day where everything just happened in a way that was enjoyable and not stressful.

First up was getting on the bike. Normally, not an issue, but now that Ian’s got a trainer and he’s going to be joining in on some of the BCC virtual rides, we need to get him organized, too. There was a bit of miscommunication and so I had to prod him out of bed in order to get some breakfast in him before the ride at 9, but it all worked out in the end. We didn’t think he would make it all the way to the end of the ride (2.5 hours, 1500 meters of elevation) but he did great. He was more than a little tired and sore later, but proud of himself.

Note that “I.Biickert” is in the ride

Tammy took Miranda to work, and we had lunch (leftover tacos, yum!) and then Tammy and I played some Minecraft. At some point, we heard Ian start to clatter around in the kitchen, and it turned out that he was making chocolate mint patties. It was a recipe in the handmade recipe book that Miranda made him for Christmas. I went and picked up Miranda, and when we got back, it was decided that Ian would make quesadillas for dinner. That was delicious, and we got to try the patties for dessert. They were very good.

We watched the Pixar movie Elemental over supper, which was very good. And then we wrapped up the day with a particularly successful karaoke session downstairs with everyone taking part. The cats were really interested, too.

It wasn’t exactly a day that would go down in history, but it was a good day.
