Not sure what the story is, but on the weekend the USB connection on our Pentax K100D camera conked out. Went to transfer the recent photos off of it, and hey presto the computer complains that the attached device is drawing too much power so it’s going to be shut down. Thanks to the wonders of USB, instantly no keyboard to go with the lack of recognized camera.

Anyhow. Tammy stopped by Best Buy and picked up an SD card reader, so now we can pop the card out of the camera and into the card reader, which plugs into the USB port. $30 later we can get our photos. So to catch up on the latest things around here…

Of course, it was Halloween, which meant carving the pumpkins that we picked out on our trip to Galey Farms:

And here are the results. The small one turned into a pretty good Mike Wazowski, I think. It was necessary because Tammy dropped it out of the car at Superstore on the way home, and it developed a semi-rotten wicked bruise on that side. Single big eyehole? Check!

On Halloween morning, we trekked into the dojo so that Miranda could take part in a karate tournament. She competed in the kata competition. She did very well, even though she didn’t get a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. We stayed to watch the lower belts’ sparring competitions then came home before the advanced belts and the Halloween party.

Then it was trick or treating time. Miranda looked very spiffy as a pirate:

And Ian wasn’t happy about having to wear the costume. He got over it when they actually started going from door to door getting candy.
