Dinner, movie and crabs

The remains of our “writing group” met at Brian and Sharon’s last night for a barbeque supper to be followed by a movie. Dinner was great, with Pauline bringing her baked potato dish which went well with the hamburgers and ‘dogs. After dinner, Lucy asked everyone nicely if they would like to go for a family walk. 🙂 So we did. Their house is very close to Portage Inlet, and it’s a walk through the forest to get there. It was a nice evening for it. I carried Miranda most of the way, but from time to time I put her down, and she trucked along until we fell too far behind.

At the beach, Brian turned over some rocks and there were little crabs hiding underneath that scurried away. He picked a few up and gave them to Lucy. Miranda was fascinated by them, so I picked up a few and gave them to her. She just threw them back down immediately, though.

After our walk we sat down to watch “Vanilla Sky”. After much email deliberation, that was our consensus choice. That went well, until Miranda got too tired about halfway through. Since Tammy had come in the car and I had come from work on my bike, she packed up our stuff and took Miranda home to bed while I stayed to watch the end of the movie. It was interesting, and certainly not what I was expecting. We’ll have to see about getting our hands on it so that Tammy can see the end. She left just before it turned “weird”.
