End of Simon’s Piano Lessons… For Now

Let’s just say I’m very disappointed. I started taking piano lessons in mid-October, and they have come to an end less than two months later. As I reported this week, I have had a flare up of carpal tunnel syndrome. There was a stretch of a few days at work with tons of typing, combined with NaNoWriMo in the evenings, plus piano practice. I think I overdid it, and now I’m trying to get healthy again. I’ve completely changed my desk at work to get everything much better ergonomically for typing and mousing, and I have soldiered on with NaNoWriMo via dictation software. The piano, though, had to stop. I barely practiced this week, and even with a shortened lesson with Amanda and more discussion of wrist position than piano playing, my wrist was warm when I left and it definitely is set back.

I am disappointed. I thought that things were progressing really well. I was looking forward to getting better and better. Perhaps my wrist will be better by the new year and I can give it another try.
