I’ll be updating this post over the course of the day. Right now, it’s first thing in the morning. I am working from home today, because today is a professional development day for the teachers and the kids are at home. Tammy is already offΒ on the train and heading to work.
I really should keep an eye on her. She’s dressed up as “punk rocker” for Halloween.
The last week has been hectic, made more so by the fact that we’ve all been at varying stages of recovery from the cold. I have been teaching the system architecture course, and Tammy has been working, but also working to add some touches to my costume for taking the kids around trick-or-treating tonight. In all of that, it was only yesterday that we realized we hadn’t bought a pumpkin yet. So on my way to my re-scheduled piano lesson last night, I went to Walmart and then Sobeys, but found no pumpkins. They were all sold out. I texted Tammy and she went to Safeway and finally found ONE pumpkin at the Co-op. Apparently, there was a run on them this year.
Yesterday, the kids got to wear their costumes at school. Ian’s Tintin again this year, and Miranda is some sort of sorceress. I will take and post pictures of the whole crew this evening and post them.
So that’s all the news for now. We will carve our pumpkin at lunchtime.
Updated
Pumpkin is carved! Here’s the kids scooping out the guts.
Updated
It’s now post-trick-or-treat. Ian was Tintin, Miranda was a spooky sorceress, Tammy was continuing her punk rocker (although somewhat subdued and ’80s with the neon glowy headband) and I was a samurai.
The kids are still coming to the door. Will post the count later.

I’m posting the pictures that Stephanie put on Facebook!
Happy Halloween…Dia de las Brujas…Have fun!!!
It was cool to see the number of parents and other “door-answerers” who recognized Ian’s costume and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Wow!!!
Great costumes and loot!!!
Hi. We had a busy night with kids. Had 72, which is the most in years, I think we had about 47 last year. So not much goodies left. The neighbours next to Anderson had a giant fireworks this year lasted for 1/2 hour. Dad
Adding to the last entry. How many houses did the kids hit.. Nice costumes. If they ever film a live TinTIn Ian Would be perfect
We went around the loop of our street. I don’t know exactly how many houses, since not all of them had lights on. It was more than enough. The weather was certainly more clement last night than it is today, but it was still a bit cool.
Thanks Simon for posting the pictures of Stephanie and the kids at Hallowe’en. I don’t know what Zach looks through to see. Doesn’t Brianna look different blonde?
