It’s taken a bit longer than it did last year, but winter might be here to visit now.

Snow on our street

It snowed in a melty sort of way for most of the day yesterday, starting at noon. At the time, I was over in the northeast, helping Chris move into the basement suite that he found when he was here a couple ofย weeks ago. He and his stepdad, Art were there, unloading the U-Haul. It was a fair bit of stuff, but not more than could be moved in an hour and a half. The only real hitch was a large TV cabinet that couldn’t fit down the stairs into the basement without using an axe. ๐Ÿ™‚ Everything else was fine.

After that was a trip to the optometrist for both Miranda and myself. Her eyes are still just fine. Mine, however, are starting to have trouble with reading distance. I have better than 20/20 at distance with my glasses on, but I need to take them off for reading and a monitor is just at the distance that I can focus, but it’s a strain. So the answer is not exactly progressive lenses: I have ordered a set of glasses with Nikon Home & Office lenses. They have near, medium and far focus areas like a progressive, but they are optimized for the mid-field. While they have some far-distance capability, I am supposed to keep my current glasses for driving, and perhaps for going to movies and the like.

I am curious as to how that will turn out.

  1. Brrrrr. Although we would sometimes like to run out in it for just one minute to cool off.
Today has started off cooler, I didn’t sweat as much at the gym.
