Not too many posts lately. Everybody’s head-down with stuff.

  • Miranda’s in her second semester of university,
  • Ian’s now into his second semester of high school,
  • Tammy’s teaching from home 100% now (after doing 2 days/week at the college for a while: seemed pointless)
  • I’m a couple weeks into my new role at Esri Canada.

New role? Yep. My title has changed again. I’m now a Professional Services Delivery Manager. For the first time ever, I have people who report to me. I have to approve timesheets. 🤯

When the new role was pitched to me, it was a little different. It was going to be a lot like what I was already doing, but just official. Ha… For a couple of weeks, I’ve been dealing with requests for time for the people on my team (Chris B, Chris D, Jing and Steven, as well as myself) to the tune of 2-4 per day. There were sessions to set people’s goals for the year, and training on how to use dashboards in Kimble. It completely blew apart my email organization pattern that I’d been using for over a decade, as I needed to keep track of so many parallel requests. I found myself watching YouTube videos on organization software and settled on using Microsoft To Do.

It’s a strange feeling to be a manager for the first time ever. I hope it was the right call.
